The (rest of) October Experiment

So many ideas, so little typing….

I don’t know what causes stalls on other people’s blogs.  I’m sure there are many reasons.  However I know this on has stalled, in  large part because of my perfectionist streak.  I started listening to people talking about how to up the quality of a blog with drafts, queuing up posts for regular posting in the slows, focusing topics, etc.  All these are great bits of advice…but then instead of posting like no one was watching I looked and saw this audience and froze. That inner critic came out in spades.  I got too caught up in the ideal and each post died for lack of perfection or fear that I wouldn’t achieve it.  It’s silly, s/he who never tries is guaranteed to fail, yet sometimes fear overrides that knowledge.

This problem has been percolating in my mind for months, how do I get the pen to paper (or the fingers to keyboard more appropriately).  The idea that has come to mind is to stop making quality the focus (although obviously I want coherent thoughts) and instead focus on doing.  Thus I have come up with my October Experiment,  post at least once a day, every day, even if it is something short.    This is of course subject to the limits of the holidays which means no Saturday posts this Saturday or next because I will not be online/on computer at all those two days.

Without too much more delay, let the October Experiment begin.
